캐나다 밴쿠버 다운타운에는 생각보다 꽤 많은 데이케어,한국말로 하면 유치원이라고 할까요?아무튼 그 데이케어가 많은데요.작년 2021년 12월 부터 저희 꼬마가 다니고 있는 데이케어도 드디어 하루에 $10불(한국돈 만원정도)데이케어로 선정되었습니다.
그 전에는 거의 $1700~1800불 정도를 매달 냈었습니다.한국돈 백칠팔십 되는 큰 돈이였거든요.제 월급의 반이 넘은 큰 돈이였었죠.하하하하 게다가 급식에 데이케어에서 필요한 우비나 이것저것 준비하려고 데이케어 들어가는 첫번째 달에는 꽤 많은 돈을 썼던것 같아요.
하루에 10불 즉 하루에 만원 데이케어 ? $10 a day daycare 란?

BC주내 일부 데이케어는 하루 C$10 데이케어 정책 시범 장소(Universal Child Care Prototype Sites)로 지정돼 부모가 하루 C$10 이하, 또는 월 C$200 정도로 원비를 납부하여 저렴하게 이용할수 있는 제도를 말하는 데요.
해당 서비스는 연소득 C$4만5,000 이하 가정에는 일부 무료, 연소득 C$4만5,001~C$11만 사이 가정에는 하루에 C$10 미만의 어린이집 비용만 다니고 있는 데이케어에 납부하면 된다고 합니다.
지금 순차적으로 이 제도를 시행하는 데이케어는 부모에게 할인을 제공하는 대신 주정부의 예산 지원을 받아 운영합니다. 따라서 당일 하루나 단기 이용은 불가능 합니다.이 데이케어에 다닐수 있는 어린이들은 대부분이 36개월 미만, 3~5세 미만 아이를 탁아 대상으로 하며, 소수만 6세 이하의 어린이들이라고 합니다.

아래의 표는 제가 살고 있는 밴쿠버 지역과 그 외의 지역중 $10불 데이케어를 운영하는 원의 이름과 몇살부터 들어갈수 있는지에 대한 표입니다. 제가 살고 있는 밴쿠버의 지역에도 꽤 많은 $10불 데이케어가 있네요.
예전에 정말 이 $10불 데이케어에 들어가려고 전화하고 수없이 이메일보내고 이것저것 저희가 할수 있는 모든 방법은 다했었네요.
$10불 데이케어라고 해서 퀄리티가 떨어지거나 선생님들이 다른 원보다 좋지 않다고 생각하면 큰 오산입니다.
$10불 데이케어를 운영하는 기관은 정부에서 운영을 하거나 YMCA 같은 Not-for-profit 기관이 많기 때문에 오히려 다른 기관들 보다 더 체계적이고 이것저것 프로그램들이 많이 있었어요.
